    THE ARK.

    A hollowed-out, abandoned remnant of a ship permanently anchored to the northern end of the Bay of Beginnings, with only a bridge to connect the shore to the sailing vessel. Ghostly, empty, and perhaps even thought to be haunted by some, it is more often than not veiled by a thick mist that blocks it from view through the naked eye on most nights. Only the rickety bridge leading up to it would be visible on such nights.

    However, on those foggy, foggy nights, residents in the nearby seaside village lay claims to hearing various sounds from where the Ark is said to be stationed, ranging from calm and gentle music to the panicked wails of both animals and men alike. The truth of this is unjustified, for every single one that has gone to investigate remains unfound, and those who do manage to return are found unconscious the next morning, along the sand, with no recollection of the prior night's events.

    On the contrary, on those aforementioned misty evenings, the Ark is well alive and filled to the brim with movement and action. Should one dare to venture into the ship's entrance via the bridge, they will be led to the inside of a spacious room decorated to mimic the appearance of a lively tavern. People from various walks of life come and go here, from modern elderly gentlemen in top hats and monocles to the strangest, most eye-popping pirate dripping with goo and dressed in seaweed breeches, seeming as if newly risen from the depths of the ocean.

    The Ark, just beyond the common eye, is truly a music bar hidden in plain sight. It is left to the benefit of the doubt if its wandering customers are long-gone souls simply refusing to pass into the next plane of existence, or if they are true, actual people—but one thing is for sure, and that is the quality of entertainment.
    THE SIREN.

    On the most common of nights, various bands and little ragtag groups of get-together's offer their talents up to keep the Ark's atmosphere alive and ticking. Some dance, some sing, and instruments from even the most untold of eras make an appearance as the crowd jostles along to the cries of the heart.

    But after the first few hours of the evening soon bleed into the wee early morning, and the rowdiest of beer-bellies and rambunctious musicians soon disappear to god-knows-where... someone replaces them.

    Youthful features betray the mismatched colors of their clothing, changing constantly with every occasion that they climb and step off the stage. It's a neon blast of an eyesore, but only two things stay the same:

    The soulful teal of their eyes, and the midnight black of their cropped locks.

    This late, only the melancholic remain behind fixing themselves a drink as they drown in thought. This late, very few pay much attention to the rest of their companions within the Ark; yet, when this figure seats themselves on the stool before the microphone and hefts their white oaken guitar into their lap... not a single resting mind amidst their audience could resist paying heed to the song that follows.

    Not even the never-changing bartenders know this person's name, but because of this effect with every song they have been known to sing—bringing peace to the mind, calm to the heart, and reassurance to the soul—they have grown to acknowledge their presence as that of "The Siren", despite the sheer question of their gender identity. In truth, the melodies take part in that confusion, as some attribute particular tones and lyrics to that of a masculine influence, while others do the same for that of a feminine one.

    The Siren never stays too long, though. By the half of the early morn's fourth hour, they wrap up their last tune and step down to awestruck applause, before disappearing behind the side-curtain, never seen again until the following night.

    They spare very few words with the touched individuals, save for the occasional greeting, a quick "How's your day going, John? Family doing all right, Berta?", and perhaps even a joke or two, after having warmed up to their surprisingly unchanging audience. It is even said that the Siren's song reaches out to the nearby village, warming the hearts of those who find themselves lost and wandering far from slumber despite the apparent eerie look the Ark takes on.

    In truth, there will always be more to just a simple come-and-go figure...
